Following the huge success of series one and two, Bells & Whistles are thrilled to be supporting Dick and Angel Strawbridge with the launch of the new series of Escape to the Chateau on Channel 4.
Intrepid couple Dick and Angel continue their French fairy tale in the third three-part series of Escape to the Chateau (Spark Media Partners Ltd, running time: 60mins) starting at 7pm on Sunday 24th September, 2017.
It’s been two and a half years since engineer Dick and designer Angel swapped their two-bed flat in Southend for a five-storey 19th century chateau in the Pays de la Loire. With 20 of the 45 rooms transformed, and despite their hard work, there’s still much to do at the family’s magical home Chateau-de-la-Motte Husson. And this time, it’s the busiest they’ve ever been!
From a wet and wild winter of repairs and restoration, to a summer of weddings and food lover’s weekends, the Strawbridge spirit remains undampened by hard graft. Dick wants to turn the walled garden into a horticultural paradise, providing crop rotations and endless food for his family and guests while Angel makes more spectacular transformations out of the derelict rooms.
With this, their first wedding season, fully booked, it’s full speed ahead to get things running smoothly. Angel’s answer: a 40-year-old dilapidated Citroen van that once peddled toys and snacks around the beaches of Northern France. With her gal pals arriving from London, the grease-laden van is soon transformed from clapped out wreck to swanky mobile bar, complete with hand-painted crest and working fridge.
Dick charms Angel with a trip to a truffle farm. Can he persuade her to grow green fingers and help him tame the precious walled garden once and for all? Meanwhile, there’s the small job of renovating a huge barn on the estate for Angel’s parents, Jenny and Steve, so they can all live, 19th Century style, as a multi-generational family on one estate.
Series three of Escape to the Chateau starts on Sunday, 24th September at 7pm. For more information about Dick and Angel’s new life in France visit www.chateaudelamottehusson.com or follow on Facebook and Twitter “Chateau de la Motte Husson”.
